iOS SDK installation changes for CocoaPods

Overview

On December 2, 2026, the public CocoaPods registry becomes read-only. After that date, new releases of the Cordial iOS SDK are not published to the public registry. Your existing SDK installation continues to work as usual. Only future updates are affected.

The change you need to make depends on which Cordial SDK your app uses:

  • Native iOS SDK: Switch to Swift Package Manager, or point your Podfile to Cordial’s Git repository.
  • React Native SDK: Point your Podfile to Cordial’s Git repository.
  • Expo SDK: Update to Expo SDK 1.4.1 or later.

Note: If you already install the Native iOS SDK through Swift Package Manager, no changes are needed.

Before you begin

Confirm which Cordial SDK your app uses and how it’s installed. If you’re unsure, check with your app development team or contact your Client Success Manager.

Native iOS SDK

You can continue receiving Native iOS SDK updates using either of the following options.

Option 1: Switch to Swift Package Manager (recommended)

The Cordial iOS SDK fully supports Swift Package Manager (SPM). Follow the SPM installation steps in the iOS SDK article to switch your installation. [Link: iOS SDK installation article]

Option 2: Continue using CocoaPods
  1. Open your project’s Podfile.
  2. Replace the existing CordialSDK entry:
pod 'CordialSDK'

with:

pod 'CordialSDK', :git => 'https://gitlab.com/cordialinc/mobile-sdk/ios-sdk.git'
  1. To pin a specific SDK version, add a :tag with the version number:
pod 'CordialSDK', :git => 'https://gitlab.com/cordialinc/mobile-sdk/ios-sdk.git', :tag => '5.8.3'
  1. Run pod install to apply the change.

React Native SDK

  1. Open your project’s ios/Podfile.
  2. Replace the existing CordialSDK entry:
pod 'CordialSDK'

with:

pod 'CordialSDK', :git => 'https://gitlab.com/cordialinc/mobile-sdk/ios-sdk.git'
  1. If you pin a React Native SDK version in your package.json, add a :tag with the matching iOS SDK version. Use the compatibility matrix in the React Native SDK article to confirm the correct version.
pod 'CordialSDK', :git => 'https://gitlab.com/cordialinc/mobile-sdk/ios-sdk.git', :tag => '5.8.3'
  1. Run pod install from the ios directory to apply the change.

Important: Your pinned iOS SDK version must match your React Native SDK version. A mismatch can cause build or runtime errors.

Expo SDK

Update your app to Expo SDK 1.4.1 or later. Expo SDK versions earlier than 1.4.1 do not use native iOS SDK versions released after December 2, 2026.
