Click Map analytics

Overview

Available for batch emails, the Click Map provides a detailed view of how customers interact with your messages, transforming raw data into digestible insights. Track and visualize exactly where customers interact with your messages to pinpoint engagement hotspots and uncover conversion barriers. The Click Map eliminates guesswork, allowing your team to make data-driven decisions to improve content strategy and conversion rates.

Recommended setup

For optimal Click Map functionality, be sure to add the data-crdl-key attribute to your anchor tags when naming tracked links in email messages. This will help with displaying links that have personalized logic or only display within specific experiments.

View Click Map for a message

The Click Map is available within sent batch emails.

The Click Map will be available in automations and additional message channels in future iterations.

1. Navigate to Messages > Email Sent and locate the desired message.

2. Within Message Performance, select the Click Map tab.

3. The Click Map for your message will appear.

4. The amount of clicks and percentage of total clicks will appear above each link.

5. You can view the Click Map by metric for more granular insight.

To view click metrics by device, select All devices, Desktop, Mobile, or Tablet from the dropdown.

Select Total Clicks, Unique Clicks, or Revenue from the dropdown to drill into specific metrics and gain further understanding of how customers engaged with your message.

1. The metrics will display above each link as well is in the Clicks Per Link pane.

2. Hover over the pop-up metric to view Total Clicks, Unique Clicks, and Revenue for that particular link.

Total Clicks

This includes all clicks, including those from message experiment and personalization variants as well as repeat clicks from single customers. Multiple clicks from a single customer are counted as individual clicks for this metric.

Unique Clicks

Unique clicks are the total number of individual customers that clicked a link. This includes clicks from message experiment and personalization variants. Even if a customer clicks a link multiple times, it will be only counted once for this metric.

Revenue

Revenue that can be attributed to link clicks from the message. This only includes revenue directly attributed to clicks.

You must have revenue attribution enabled in your account to view this metric. Learn more about revenue attribution here.

In the bottom right, the Clicks Per Link pane displays the amount of clicks for each link and the percentage of the message's clicks that each link received.

The message content on the left is rendered according to a randomly selected contact. So if there's any kind of conditional logic built within a link for personalization efforts, or there are links that only appear in specific experiment variants, those links might not be shown within the message content display.

  • Click the Show all links toggle to show links that aren't displayed on the Click Map because of conditional personalization logic or experiments.
